What is it?

Seizures may be a genetic condition, a result of birth complications, or a symptom of heat stroke.

How can I recognize it?

A seizing chinchilla looks pretty much like how you'd expect.

How do you treat it?

As a neurological condition, there really is no treatment for chinchilla seizures. However, a safe environment can help prevent broken bones or other injuries from a fall. We recommend lots of wide ledges in the cage that a chin is less likely to roll off of in the event of a seizure.

How can I avoid this?

Don't let your chinchilla overheat. And don't breed!
