What is it?
Pyometra is a uterine infection in female chins. This condition can happen whether or not a chinchilla has given birth.
How can I recognize it?
When the uterus becomes infected you may see a whitish discharge from between the urethral cone and anus. The whole bottom area may be wet and crusty and the chin may excessively groom the genital area.
How do you treat it?
Emergency vet care is necessary. Treatment is with strong antibiotics and a hysterectomy.
